We are
delighted to announce that Uplift is doing the online promotion for
the new Cork City compilation album called Unlabelled. Its
a cool album and supports local singers so check it out on the Compilation
page. New songs written by Andy and songwriting partner Tony Webb are now being listened to by Sugababes, Rachael Stephens and Gareth Gates. One of their songs has been chosen by BMG Germany for their artist Eve for release later this year. Cork Universal signed artist Carol Anthony is also choosing new original songs from the duo. Clonakilty based big band swing singer Ronnie Costley is in the studio mixing an album of new recordings including some old favourites from the swing era and some new compositions of his own. The remake of the Guns and Roses track 'Sweet Child of Mine' done by Dex n A mixed at Uplift is in the top three most requested tracks at Hot FM in Dublin and regularly fills dancefloors every week. The Lucky Charm single in Taiwan is a couple of thousand off platinum sales so we hope to have more platinum discs up on the wall any day now... Aldergrove have just recorded their first album with Andy in the studio, see more about that on the Aldergrove page. We just got copies of the album by Richard O'Brien called 'Life Related Features' so thanks to Richard for that, the cover looks great with a striking picture of the artist on an underground moving walkway. If only more artists would send in their releases we could feature them in the studio by displaying them or something, still waiting to see the KrisChin record and the charity single that we did the christmas before last!!! Carol Anthony got her top twenty hit on Universal and she hopes to be recording another song from Andy in the near future. We just
heard that Christian O'Malley's latest release has charted
in Ireland, going in at number 19. It's a great record, with rocky
alternative feel and some cool lyrics and attitude. The band is known
as Kris Chin... We're nearing completion of Michael English's latest album, it's sounding great and represents a new departure for this talented Irish singer and piano player. Manchester's In The City conference was great as usual where we met up with some new faces and checked in with some of the usual suspects, you know who you are. Saw some good gigs, notably La Rocca, a great Irish band that we hear are about to do really well. Good to talk with David Stark as well, in fact there's a mug shot of Andy and Mick in one of the recent Songlink magazines, thanks for that David! Belfast band Aldergrove were down again to work on their tracks and they started another song called Be Gone Now which shows a lot of energy and an indie edge. Dublin
rap r&b disco phenomenon Too Close have been in the studio
for two weeks preparing for their big gig at the Miss Ireland show
where their many fans will get a chance to see them on TV..(Too Close
now renamed as Zoo) Krossfade release their debut single which goes straight in at number 17 in the charts in the first week. Single called 'One Day' which was written and produced by Andy in the Uplift studio in Bantry. Fabulous band Deviant Device rocked the studio with their brand of superloud post-cyber-punk industrial noise mayhem. We'll bring you the pictures as soon as the stiches have healed. Lead singer Plop will be back in the studio soon to finish off the tracks and edit some video for an interested record company in California. More recording with Michael English and then a one off performance in New York state in March which went well. The American audience responded well to the Irish charms of the up and coming young singer. Michael now performs with a concert grand piano on the stage showing off his talents as a pianist as well as a singer. Fabulous band Aldergrove recorded three songs in a couple of days after arriving from Belfast for the session. Those in the know reckon they are very cool indeed with a mixture of great songwriting from Ben and a really talented band. Midem 2003 in Cannes sees Andy acheive lifetime ambition of broadcasting on Radio Caroline which now transmits over the internet rather than from the heaving deck of a ship in the middle of the North Sea... New female rock singer Indiana Gregg has started recording with Andy in France. She is American living near Nice. Michael English has recorded a new version of the song 'Music was my first love' which was originally performed by John Myles. Andy attended the music biz conference 'In The City' in Manchester for the second time, arriving back from Genoa in Italy after meetings in Nice. Cork singer Carol Anthony has signed a record deal in the UK with BMG after recording with Andy in the studio here. The song that did it for her was called 'Sunshine' which was originally written for Britney Spears by Andy and Lotte in Denmark. Carol got there first so we hope to see that released some time in the future. Krossfade are set to launch for the press and record business on the 29th of May 2002. This is a Dublin gig and we will get more details when we have them. Up4iT appear at the annual Cork RS 2002 show at the Munster Showgrounds helping to raise money for the childrens ward at UCH. Also on the bill are Fantazy, Krossfade and Susan Hickey. Morgan Deane, Up4iT and Eimear Hurley will all be appearing at the Bantry Mussel Festival on May 10th 2002. Morgan was booked to be on last year but because of the danger of foot and mouth (for the cows, not her) the festival was cancelled. Up4iT will be appearing at Dalyman Park in Dublin at 2 pm on Easter Sunday. This is at a football cup final in front of loads of soccer fans who no doubt will go loopy when then catch sight of the girls all dressed up glam... The Shane MacGowan album recorded and mixed by Andy has received 5 stars on Amazon.com Krossfade are back down to the studio from Dublin and were last spotted on a beach in West Cork building sandcastles. They are recording three new songs for their upcoming launch in May at the Olympia in Dublin. Up4iT played at the Temple Bar Music Centre in Dublin on Sunday the 24th March. This was their first gig with the full line up including the newest member, Tony. The talented band Odon have been into the studio for the second time laying down tracks. They now have four songs started and they will be back in soon to work on vocals and guitars. If you get a chance to see these guys live then do because they are really really good and we think that they will make it all the way to the top. They play loads of instruments and they all sing really well, so when they all play together and then hit the four part harmonies its something special. Check them out if you can. There was a gig on the 19th of January 2002 at the West Cork Arts Centre in Skibbereen. The line up included Paul Barry, Lilly Fitzgerald Sarah M and Up4iT. There was a dj as well and the kids seemed to enjoy it. Up4iT played a new song for the first time and went down very well Morgan Deane is back in the studio recording new material after getting a development deal from BMG records in Ireland. Éimear Hurley has been back into the studio for the second time this year and she is now looking at new songs for her album. Working with Jud Weidner, the songs and the style are taking shape. She now is moving on from the traditional material that she was trying last year and may even record some new versions of existing tracks as well as the original songs written by Jud and Andy. Krossfade have been into the studio twice to work with Andy and they are hoping to finish a number of songs when they come down next. They have been working hard on vocal harmonies and styles. Andy has been asked to look at Dublin based girl band 'Cerise' who are four determined and talented young ladies from the capital city who are doing songs with a pop R&B vibe. He has been discussing image and styling with them with a view to developing their talents and maybe getting them a record deal sometime in the future. [Cerise have now disbanded...] Male vocal group Krossfade are booked in to the studio to work on new material with Andy. We'll bring you more details as we get them. Lilly Fitzgerald has been in to the studio to record a second song with Andy. This is a song called 'There's a Party Going On'. This is an original song that has not been released yet, once again in the modern disco style that Lilly is making her signature production style. Because she is so young, just 13 years old, Lilly has to be careful not to sing songs that are too 'old' in subject matter for her. Whilst she enjoys the latest R&B hits the lyrics on most of them would be about things that really are beyond the experience of a regular 13 year old Irish girl. She is comfortable with her songs, 'Nothing Better than a Groove' and the new track 'There's a Party Going On' and we wish Lilly all the best in her new career. [Lilly is now considering another style change to explore more alternative music...watch this space!] New Cork based band Up4it have been into the studio to work on their first recording which is a song called 'That's It'. The original recording had to be scrapped as the lyrics were just too rude to get on the radio but now with some reworking of the words the record is taking shape whist still retaining the sexy energy of the original version. They make their debut performance with their new song this Christmas at a gig in Dublin. Cork singer and guitarist Liam Hutchinson is busy working on his new album scheduled for released next spring. He is recording a selection of songs with an Irish flavour using mostly acoustic instruments and very little drums. Rhythmic energy comes from the stringed instruments such as guitar, mandola and banjo, and extra textures are added from the Irish whisles and pipe playing. Andy attended the In The City music business conference in Manchester, England. Ireland's top R&B singer Morgan Deane appeared there to great acclaim and seems to have started quite a buzz. Andy is back from Japan where he played a couple of gigs with Dave Stewart & Barbara Gaskin. They appeared at the 'Love Generation' in Tokyo. This was his second trip to Japan to play guitar. Shane MacGowan and The Popes have just finished a live album recorded and mixed by Andy at Uplift Entertainment. The gigs for the album were two in New York and one in Dublin. Morgan Deane is getting some top airplay on local and national stations, link to her site at www.morgandeane.com and find out what all the fuss is about. We welcome the mighty SunKing who are recording an album with Andy in the studio. They are probably the best unsigned rock band in Ireland and they are currently working on a new sound that mixes the new US sounds with their own unique vibe. Have a look at their site at www.sunkingtomb.com Éimear is now getting attention from a record company in France who have been interested in her for a while. We hope to be bringing her over to see them after having recorded some more new material in her new style which is a mixture of haunting celtic vibes with the grooves of Dido. She has just recorded a U2 song and she has some hot interest from a certain German record company whose A&R manager said that her voice gave him 'goosebumps'. She has just finished her exams and we are now preparing more songs for her. Loretta O'Sullivan is now signed to Rosette Records after Andy introduced her to them at a meeting in London. It just goes to show, if you knock on enough doors eventually you find the right one. Loretta is now touring with Dominic Kirwan in the UK and will also be coming back to Ireland to appear in the near future. We wish her the best of luck with her career and it has been great to see her getting her record deal as a result of recording with Andy at Uplift Entertainment. Uplift Entertainment has joined forces with Axis Digital Media to make video and multimedia presentations. The first major project has just been completed for the South West Regional Development |
